You Are the Church’s Social Justice!

When you go out into the community to do justice-making work, you represent the UU Church of Annapolis, whether you mention us or not.  You carry our living tradition with you because you are living and reflecting our values.

NEVER FORGET THAT YOU ARE THIS COMMUNITY’S EXAMPLE OF FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE IN ACTION in this world.   And that’s why Rev. Anastassia and I met with about 20 members this week to listen to their stories and learn more about all the incredible work that’s being done in this county, state, and country.  The list was quite impressive.  Those on the zoom accounted for over 40 places or spaces where volunteer work is being done in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  Good work like mentoring, serving on boards, community organizing, career counseling, tutoring, environmental protection law, immigration justice, LGBTQAI concerns, racial justice and reconciliation, career placement, mental health, advocacy, and more.  It’s no wonder that whenever I’m recognized publicly the person will say, “Oh, your members are very active in the community.”  It brings a warm smile every time…

Soon, our members will be provided with a list of those places and contact information so that, if you’re interested, you can contact members who are doing so many wonderful things with their jobs and/or as volunteers.

It’s still not too late for you to be on this growing list of social justice warriors.  Please fill out this form.  It will come directly to the ministers.

Love to you,

Rev. John
