UUCA’s Sabbatical Plans

Beloved Community,

Rev. John will be on sabbatical from April 1 through June 30 and on study leave from July 1 through July 31. We are reaching the final stages of preparing to send Rev. John on his sabbatical leave with our blessings. We anticipate this will be a time of rest and renewal for Rev. John and a time of growth for our community as we step into new support roles.

During Rev. John’s sabbatical, the congregation will be served by Rev. Anastassia, in a solo executive capacity. This means that as she shoulders increased responsibilities we are asked to step into new support roles.

Rev. Anastassia will be conducting Sunday worship during many weeks of Rev. John’s sabbatical. We will also have members of our community and guest speakers leading us in worship.

Here is our current worship schedule for the next several months:
  • April 17         Rev. Anastassia, Easter Sunday and Flower Communion
  • April 24         Rev. Anastassia
  • May 1            Rev. Anastassia
  • May 8           Rev. Fred Muir
  • May 15         Rev. Anastassia
  • May 22         Coming of Age and Bridging into Adulthood Service
  • May 29         Jane Carrigan
  • June 5          Membership Sunday
  • June 12        Matt Meyer, with an After Hour workshop “Song-Leading for Justice”
  • June 19        Thornell Jones
  • June 26        Leika Lewis-Cornwell
  • July 3           Max Ochs
  • July 10         Carrie Baquie
  • July 17         Rev. Anastassia
  • July 24         Rev. Anastassia
  • July 31         Rev. Anastassia
  • August 7     Rev. John (he returns!) and Rev. Anastassia

Rev. Anastassia will be available throughout the sabbatical period, but we have arranged for Debbie Bain to be on call to pastoral care during Rev. Anastassia’s attendance at General Assembly and during her study leave (June 18 -July 10). Debbie, a member of UUCA, works as a hospital chaplain.

Thank you for your commitment and flexibility during this sabbatical time, as our congregation works to fill the big shoes of Rev. John. It is an exciting time of joining together in service and support.

More information will be coming up regularly, and our website will be updated with the most current information. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or appreciations, you can contact Sabbatical@uuannapolis.org , and a member of our team will get back to you.

Yours in service,

The Sabbatical Team
