Celebration Sunday on March 5 Kicks Off

“Back to a Better Future”

Stewardship Drive

Journey with us “Back to a Better Future” on Celebration Sunday, March 5.  We’ll kick off our one-time 18-month pledge drive with fun, food, and frivolity led by our forward-thinking Stewardship team.  SAVE THE DATE!

After service on March 5, we’ll gather in the Sanctuary for lunch, entertainment, and stories of the progress we’re making toward our big dreams of a Beloved Community.  If you’re game, fluff up your mullet and wear your favorite 80’s gear.  Or skip the dress-up – it’s still a party!

Since late October 2022, the Stewardship core team has met to plan the launch of our campaign.  Over 40 member volunteers have now taken on a range of tasks such as visiting stewards, or data management, communications, website development, gathering testimonials, and more.

You can make Celebration Sunday a hit by being there- and if you can, sign up to donate food, drink, and more.

A Little Bit About “Back to a Better Future”

We’re moving from a monthly rolling pledge group system to a combined annual drive, as UUCA members had done long ago.  And just to keep things interesting and everyone on their toes… we also changed our fiscal year end from December 31 to June 30 (members voted on this change in December 2022.)

To cover the “short” 6-month year, and for ONE TIME ONLY, we’ll pledge for an 18-month period from January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.  After that, we’ll return to a standard annual 12-month drive held each March.

The short 6-month gap period runs from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.  We then start our new fiscal year on July 1, 2023, which runs through June 30, 2024. Feeling a little Marty McFly-ish?  You’re not alone!  That’s why your friendly Visiting Steward will be there to help guide you through the process.  Let Evelyn Spurgin know if you would like to be visited by one of our amazing stewardship volunteers.

We’re going “Back” to the annual drive we had in past, but “to a Better Future” with everyone pledging together, helping us to build a more reliable budget.

So come to Celebration Sunday, March 5, in your Air Jordans and headbands… or come as you are- but be there or be square!
