Soundscape: Celebrating Debussy’s Complete Preludes

Solo pianist Marianna Prjevalskaya will feature the evocative preludes of Impressionist composer Claude Debussy at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis on March 4 as part of the monthly Arts in the Woods concert series. Having grown up in Russia and Spain, Marianna began studying piano at age 6 and made her first solo debut with orchestra at age 9. She won her first prize in a piano competition–the Marisa Montiel Piano Competition in Linares, Spain–at age 14, where she was also awarded a special prize for musicality. She has since performed with more than 15 orchestras around the world, won top prizes at more than 20 international piano competitions, and performed as a recitalist at prestigious venues in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. She is recognized for her emotional intensity, maturity, richness and beauty of tone. Marianna holds the Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal College of Music in London, the Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from Yale School of Music, and the Artist Diploma from Indiana University of South Bend. She is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she is on the faculty.
